i found another bug (HW 0.3.4. beta 6):
If the hotlist is the topped window and i click on "Open file" (folder icon in non-topped main window),
fileselector opens correct, but the selected file is opened in hotlist window then.

Editable textfields (again)

Hi,

there are some problems with editable textfields in 0.3.4 beta6 (Falcon/CT60/CTPCI/Radeon, 1280*1024 screenres.):
- The textfields are too small (half width they should be) and don't scroll horizontally when
typing (follow the textcursor). But it's strange: When i delete some long lines with keeping
BACKSPACE pressed, the textbox scrolls (follows cursor) like it should be!
If a line is longer than the textfield and i press ALT+CTL+CLEAR (screen update), the missing
part of this line is displayed right outside the textbox. I can't attach a snapshot because of
the limited attachment size here in forum (25 kB), but this happens in all Atari-forums i tested.
- German NON-ASCII characters are not inserted correct, for example a german "a with too dots
on top" is inserted as a greek "eta", i think..

Sorry, i'm late:
YES, jpegs are displayed correct now (v. 0.3.4 ß6), great, thank you!! And it's fast on my
Falcon/CT60/CTPCI/Radeon!
But there's another issue which appeares since 0.3.3, i think. The order of webpage elements
is not correct sometimes, for example see:
http://www.powerphenix.com/CTPCI/english/welcome.htm
The links should be placed one under the other here, not in one line.

Or see http://www.wrc.com (i'm a rally fan):
The block with "Rally Radio listen live" and "Free wrc app" which is displayed near the bottom
of the page should be at the right of the first big jpg-picture. The background colour is wrong
here, too: It should be white instead of black.
Both views compared to FireFox on Ubuntu-Linux.

I hope you can fix this, too.

Thanks again,
Latz

Looking at bug 242 (below), I have not been able to reproduce the first part but the second part doesn't actually crash HW.

If a link is clicked during page load then sometimes HW locks-up but pressing Escape cancels the page load and HW comes back to life.

Obviously it needs to be looked into. Maybe pressing a link should first cancel the current page load before going to the new link ?

HW crashes when trying to open a bookmarked site without having a browsing window open

In a related note, it also happens, randomly, when clicking on a link while the page is still loading

Hi,
there is a serious problem in Highwire 0.3.4 ß4 (hw100125.zip) from
http://highwire.sourceforge.net/prototype-development.php which was not
present in 0.3.3 ß4:
JPEG pictures are displayed with a shadow, means if there's a car in a
picture then a transparent copy of the car is drawn some pixels to the left
or right- just like "shadowed" text.
For example see http://aniplay.atari.org/ picture of LCD display.

This happens on my Falcon/CT60 with MinT/XaAES/NVDI 256 colors/736*544p (with
CNTSCREEN.PRG) and with MagiC, too (same res.).

When accessing (login) squirrelmail, the webapp sends a bunch of http headers (set cookies, http redirect, etc.) to the client... highwire just displays the http response (no html, it's just a header, and it's cut somewhere before the real end...) and then does nothing.
That should be valid, as the
browser should drop any tags
inside the OPTION tags, if it
does not support them.

what I can tell you, is that
the problem is "probably" in
the code that deals with FONT
tags, which I guess to be
some of the oldest parts of
the code.

I say this, becuase I have
seen other "wierd" things
happen with the older font
related tags (B,I,U) especiall
when there is no STYLE related
ifo in the page

NOTE: the idea of using FONT
in an OPTION is often used
to "hilite" an entry in some
way, by color or style. It
has only rescently been
possible on modern broswers,
except may Mozilla (from before
FireFox)

To recreate the bug:
create some lines of text,
more than one textarea page

make one of the later ones,
say line 10, long enough for
the text to scroll sideway
while typing. make sure the
line above is has text also,
ie not an empty line.

then press "up" arrow (on
the end of the long line). you should now see "bell"

FYI:

HW does not do well with non-strict CSS or "perfect" formed web pages. I have not done any research on how far this goes, but I have seen some DIV layouts that work, and others that should are horizontally displaced (google).

The site mentioned above is not a "CSS" based html page, and may contain non-perfect layout

note that font rendering will be (and can cause) an issue under certain circumstances, and BR on blank lines need to be (& n b s p ;) padded to render properly

there also is an issue with B & U close tags (when used together) killing the font style

style setting that affect non-existing tag objects will not render, ie no BODY or HTML tags. This basically says that HW's DOM is a little bit lacking.

There are many ways to get HW to crash, I manage to do it 3 or 4 times a session.

At the end of the day, its a fair effort, and the source is there, so its all "fixable" and "updateable", but someone has to actually do it..

Hello,

For instance : http://www.powerphenix.com/ in which the links are displayed side by side instead of being each one under another (hope the terms are correct...).
Some other sites cause HW crash and go back to desktop. None as example, but will come as soon as I can find one. Might not take too long.

Regards,

sorry for taking so much time...

I did the test with the new beta, and the bug is still there. I have a HighWire crash with xaes saying "highwire error. User PC=*different numbers each time*, Address 4 ( basepage=*varying numbers* text=*varying numbers* data=*varying numbers bss=*varying numbers*)
Also, but this is another bug I reported, the CSS parser still sends messages to the screen, and I have to keep a console open in order to get them there.
