I haven't been on this forum for a while. I see you are a busy man, working on HW, Xaaes themes and graphics tools like Vision and Smurf.

I have these on the Milan but they are also less than stable there. I seem to recall Smurf is ok but Vision is very poor. I used to use GEMView quite a lot on the ST but that isn't good on the Milan either. Seems to be an installation problem, it never finds the conversion files it needs.

I end-up using Photoline (now free, you just need the reg.code) and an old version of ImageCopy, the slightly later one doesn't work under Xaaes.
